Open Kent aims to enable residents of Kent to be able to access, visualise, map and compare open data from a single access point.

We want to make this as easy as possible for local public sector agencies across the country to publish/link their open data to Open Kent so staff, members and your residents can realise these benefits with your data.

As such, we have developed Terms and Conditions for organisations linking/upload their data to Open Kent to make this process as effective as possible. Before you link/upload data to Open Kent, you will need to ensure:

* The data conforms to the Open Government Licence. As the organisation providing the information under the license, your organisation will be defined as the “Information Provider” when referencing the Licence.

* You provide the data in an open data format (such as CSV or XML or through SQL query/API). This will enable the data to be used for re-use and analysis.

* You fill in the Open Kent Metadata Form to describe the metadata of your data . This will make it easier for people to search and compare data between different datasets and provide context to the data itself.

* You provide the contact details of the person in your organisation responsible for providing Open Kent with links to your data. That person will be able to take part in the Open Kent Working Group to shape the project and be accountable for the links between your organisation’s data and Open Kent.

Open Kent will be responsible for the effective operations and maintenance of the Open Kent system, while each organisation providing data to Open Kent will be responsible exclusively for their data and any issues regarding it.

To prepare for launching Open Kent, you can provide us with links to the data you want to publish. Here are the ways to do that depending on where your data is:
